Building Controls
The building controls sector encompasses various sub-segments covering everything from lighting controls, hands-free washroom sensors, smoke ventilation systems and water pumps through to security-related devices and entire automated building management systems.
Electronic building controls used in this industry can either be digital or analogue. Although they have limited remote monitoring capabilities and do not offer two-way communication, analogue controls play a key role in balancing cost and functionality in building management systems.
Going digital
These days, the world around us is becoming increasingly connected and automated. And that includes buildings and the systems used to manage them. Digital controls provide two-way communication between the controller and the front-end software of a building management or automation system and are being used more and more across both commercial and residential building applications.
Many of these systems are miniaturised versions of existing systems previously seen in industrial environments, combined with the connectivity of the internet to allow for remote monitoring.
Digital controls are also driving the ‘smart homes’ of the future. These days, we can control anything from lighting, heating and water to home entertainment and security systems through the touch of a button (or even our voice) thanks to advances in connected technologies.
At Liad Electronics, we have over 35 years’ experience in manufacturing cable assemblies, PCB assemblies and other component parts for use in building automation and control systems.
